MantraGroup Inc., a leading provider
of mobile messaging solutions and the developer of the first
VoIP solution for Palm OS has announced the compatibility
of mobiVoIP, the first Palm OS VoIP Solution, with third party
VoIP servers.
VoIP or Voice over IP (pronounced 'voyp'), is a new technology
that enables making phone calls over the Internet. With VoIP
technology, the phone call is routed through the internet
and gets terminated to a PSTN or other VoIP client. Instead
of passing the telephone call to a telephone operator, it
uses the existing Internet connection and thereby provides
cost savings on phone bills.
mobiVoIP which was provided as a service will be given out
as a product and is made compatible with VoIP servers like
Vonage too. This is the first SIP compliant VoIP client in
Palm OS space which has been fully tested with numerous SIP
servers like IPTel.org, SIPPulse, Asterisk and FWD. mobiVoIP
has already seen more than 10,000 downloads after its launch
in June, 2006. “We believe this number will increase
significantly as the customer can readily use the same VoIP
service used at home on his mobile device without requiring
significant changes. Making it compatible with Vonage was
a given thing for us.” adds Manohar Chapalamadugu, CEO
of MantraGroup Inc.
mobiVoIP will be offered at $49.99 one time fee whereas the
service will be continued to be offered at the original announced
prices.
